Robotic Commissioning Engineer

About MX3D
MX3D is a pioneer in large-scale 3D metal printing. From our headquarters in Amsterdam, we have revolutionized the industry with our Robotic Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technology. Globally, we are known for pushing boundaries, including building the world’s first fully functional 3D-printed stainless steel bridge. With our advanced M1 and MX Metal AM systems, we enable companies worldwide to produce metal parts in-house using robot-assisted 3D printing.

The Role: Robotic Commissioning Engineer
We are looking for a motivated, hands-on engineer to support our Commissioning Team. This role is ideal for a technical professional with a practical mindset who enjoys learning and assisting with troubleshooting, setting up, testing, and implementing robot-assisted 3D printing systems both in-house and occasionally on-site.

You will work closely with senior engineers during the commissioning of MX3D systems and assist with mechanical, electrical, and software tasks to ensure installations are successful and smoothly handed over to (internal) customers. Additionally, you will ensure internal systems are quickly restored in case of issues so that production can continue without delays.

This position combines workshop and on-site work with customers, giving you experience with real projects and the full commissioning process.

You will be responsible for:

  • Support the commissioning team with system setups in-house and occasionally on-site
  • Assist with mechanical, electrical, and software troubleshooting
  • Help with wiring, assembly, and testing of robotic printing systems
  • Contribute to system calibration, testing, and documentation
  • Support multiple commissioning projects and contribute to continuous improvement

Your Profile

What you bring to the table:

  • MBO/HBO degree in a technical field (Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering); HBO candidates with a hands-on mentality are also welcome
  • Practical, proactive, and eager to learn
  • Skilled with tools, electronics, and technical systems
  • Organized, reliable, and capable of managing multiple small projects simultaneously
  • Good command of English (Dutch is a plus)
  • Several years of experience with robotics

Additional Skills (Bonus)

  • Familiarity with technical drawings, wiring diagrams, or PLCs
  • Experience in a workshop, commissioning, or technical support

Why Work at MX3D?
